Two weeks before Christmas 2010 Mr and Mrs Brown ordered a pair of profiling adjustable beds through Back Care Beds, the retail division of High & Dry Manufacturing Ltd. Ellie had a chat with them to ask how they are getting on.

Ellie;

Can you tell me why you decided to buy profiling adjustable beds?

Mr Brown;

My doctor recommended we should get them since I suffer with acid reflux disease, it’s really unpleasant. Acid from your stomach comes back up causing heartburn and…….

Mrs Brown;

OK George, you don’t need to go into detail. Just to say that when he’s lying flat it’s much worse.  And because George is shuffling about and moaning all night, I don’t get any sleep either. (more…)

I remember when Santa took his sleigh-driving test. When he arrived back at the grotto ready to load up a delivery of adjustable beds. I asked Santa ‘Did you pass?’  He looked rather pleased with himself, pointed to the sleigh and said ‘Look, no-el plates!’

In this instance an imaginary customer has a relatively small bedroom. As an individual profiling bed it is a good idea to order a bed of at least 3’ width which is 90cm. We make narrower beds if it is not practical to go bigger. Always allow enough space around your bed to safely get around it.

What is reflex foam, and why is so practical when used with an adjustable bed? Let’s start by discussing which mattresses are not particularly suitable.

Conventional mattresses are not designed to flex. Reflex foam will profile with the movement of the adjustable mechanism. Another reason a conventional mattress is not suitable on an adjustable bed is because the mechanism has four separate moving parts and a static section. When the head and foot ends are raised putting the occupant into a sitting position, more pressure will be exerted in this static area. Our electric profiling mechanism is designed to have adjustable tension in this area to cope with the extra loading. But what about the mattress?
